The first radio communication on the Korean peninsula was established in a lighthouse patrol ship named Gwangjae Ho to communicate with a telegraph station in Weolmi Island in September 5, 1910.
The first radio monitoring services were provided by Gyeongseong. Busan, Gangneung radiotelegraph stations in August, 1938. However, the full-scale radio monitoring services began with the establishment of the Gwangjang monitoring branch office on June 1. 1947.
